Here is a nice one from Napa Valley.
Dark ruby in color with a purplish rim.
Strong nose of black currants, plums, cherries, chocolates, smoke, licorice, vanilla, cedar, leather, earth, spices, tobacco and black pepper.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with plums, cherries, cooked blueberries, cedar, leather, vanilla, licorice, light cloves, tobacco, coffee, chocolates, peppercorn, spices and earth.
Medium finish with round tannins and bitter herbs.
This is a very nice Merlot from Napa Valley. Well balanced and enjoyable by itself or with food. Showing nice complexity and a nice and soft mouthfeel.
Needs 90 minutes to open up properly and show some tannins.
Good by itself or with food. I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

In 1985, Agustin Huneeus, a Chilean exile who had built Concha y Toro in his native country, took over the helm at Franciscan. Muy buen Merlot, presenta color purpura oscuro con ribetes que denotan su evolución, en nariz mezcla de aromas a frutos rojos confitados, con notas de cacao y regaliz. En boca se siente con cuerpo, taninos muy equilibrados y de persistencia alta. Lo armonizamos con estofado de cordero y resultó excelente esa armonía.

Beautiful Merlot. Deep flavors, perfectly balanced and blended, not too acidic, little bit of spice and Woody notes.

This wine says "so, you're too good to drink Merlot anymore?" Very nicely balanced with mild tannins and a bit of pepper on the end. Eminently quaffable.
