Gaja
Sorì San Lorenzo Langhe Nebbiolo
Tasted blind. Dark, purple scarlet and opaque in the glass. Notes of black fruit, dark earth and stone, spice, mocha and some volcanic ash kind of note. Nice and rich in the mouth. The volcanic ash note leads me to Cal Cab and I go with a 91 Diamond Creek Volcanic Hill guess. That’s happened before to me when blind tasting Gaja, although nobody else was in Italy with their guesses either. And maybe we're starting to get a bit polluted… 😏

Oct 31st, 2022Wow! Such a baby! So delicious though. Give this another 5 years and decant but delightful red fruit with plenty of structure left.

Apr 26th, 2016Another life changing wine for me. Dried herbs, fresh red fruit, so incredibly youthful.

May 19th, 2015Super youthful, mouthful of unresolved tannin. Really stunning and young. High times red fruit, orange, cherry, dried herbs, rose petal, peat. Really long lived. Gorgeous.
