Deep Ruby with aromas of jammy fruit, pepper and toasty cedar, aged 16 months in French oak, 50% new. On the palate flavors of black currant, jammy blackberry and pepper, vivid acidity with fine ripe tannins, long finish ending with fruit, pepper spice, smoky oak and earthy character. Nice.

High altitude, century-old Tempranillo produced by Mariano Garcia and his sons? Yes please. Popped and poured; enjoyed over two days. Better on Day 2. The 2019 Garmón pours a deep purplish ruby with what’s essentially an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with beautiful notes of dark fruit: dark cherries, Marionberry, figs, roasted red peppers, bay leaf, dry earth, cedar, and gentle baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes on the nose. The finish is long and rich and super satisfying. To be frank, this was merely a good wine on Day 1. On Day 2, this was showing some serious quality and impeccable balance. The best sip was the last sip. You can drink now with a huge decant but these will be better after 2029 and should drink very well through 2040+.
