To continue my Grenache phase, here is one from France.

Ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

On the nose blueberries, red currants, cherries, oak, cloves, raspberries, spices, light wood, earth, light barnyard, wet leaves, tobacco leaf and peppercorn.

Full bodied with medium acidity and nice legs.

Dry on the palate with cherries, raspberries, currants, oak, licorice, peppercorn, spices, green vegetables, dark coffee, herbs, tobacco leaf, graphites, bitter herbs, black tea and earth.

Medium minus on the finish with fine tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a nice and earthy Grenache/Syrah blend. Showing mild complexity with a nice mouthfeel.

A good food wine that will pair nicely with game meats.

Needs an hour to open up properly and show some tannins. Spicy and engaging.

I paired it with cheeses and light appetizers.

14% alcohol by volume.

86 points.

$17.

Deep ruby in color; prunes, black cherries, and mushrooms on the nose; medium acidity; medium tannins; tastes like stewed plums, overripe blackberries, and wet gravel with a long finish. Tastes like there was a little Brettanomyces during the fermentation. Not enough to get a barnyard flavor or smell, but enough to make it earthy and mushroom-y. It's good, but not my favorite. A very interesting wine.

After some time in the glass, it has developed aromas of chocolate, prunes, and dried herbs. It tastes like cloves and cherries. The other flavors and aromas are so there, but more in balance now. Adding another point to my score.

2015 vintage. Got it for under $20. Drinks like a much more expensive wine.

Blood red color of a plum skin. Aroma is opulent in red/black fruits and creosote. Also has some vapor of alcohol going on. Bit of herbal tincture there too. Flavor is fairly simple with berries (black and blue) well represented. Slightly meaty and full bodied. Those classic French tannins dry your tongue and gums too. It’s nice red. Rhône-ish and very drinkable.
