Had this about 3 years ago. Graham Beck entering its third generation as a family winery, established in 1983 when entrepreneur Graham Beck purchased Madeba farm outside the Western Cape town of Robertson. About a 50/50 blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, aromas of tropical fruits and biscuit notes, vivid crisp acidity on medium+ finish ending with yeasty notes. Nice value.

Outstanding traditional method sparkler out of South Africa. Just the right amount of bready with pear and citrus. Not as acidic as Champagne, but beautifully balanced.

Mar 12th, 2014Disgorged in 2018. Dark golden color. Aromas of bruised apple, pear, toasted bread and wet slate. Bruised apple flavor dominates the palate with some additional flavors of red berries, lemon/lime and toasted bread. Pronounced mineral note on the long finish. Crisp acidity and medium length. Mousse and bubbles dissipate pretty quickly. I probably waited a bit too long to open this one as I sensed it was a bit past its prime.

Nice bubs, clean profile, but too sweet for me.

Jan 5th, 2025A perfectly decent bottle of bubbly.
On the fruitier side with yellow stone fruit and more in the happy, jolly character vs. austere & serious but overall very enjoyable.
