Grosset
Springvale Clare Valley Riesling
Really lovely. Full of zest and life. Held a beautiful profile in the palate for absolutely ages (even when we had finished dinner and the bottle and while watching Collingwood. And if there's anything to put a bad taste in your mouth it would be Collingwood Football Club).
I still believe, for my palate, that Watervale/Springvale Grosset Rieslings drink better young, while the Polish Hills are better with age.

Lemon in colour. See previous Delectable note. Paraffin notes developing. On the palate Barb thought white nectarine notes. Crisp and clean - a beautiful mature Riesling. My last bottle but it could have been left a few more years. Having said that it is hard to see it improving over the standard it is now. An earlier developing style than its sibling Cuvée, Polish Hill.

Mar 31st, 2023Light yellow in colour. Aromatics of lime and lemon, also pear flesh and skins. Developing toasty notes. No TDN. I know I said a touch of kerosene on a previous note but not on this occasion. Palate is still taut and structured with a citric acid grip. Definitely in the top 3 Riesling producers in Australia.

Apr 14th, 2022Springvale is usually the less austere when compared to the Grosset Polish Hill. This is a pale lemon in colour. Touch of Kerosene amongst the white flower aromatics. Citrus on the light restrained palate with the acid which will propel this well past 10 years of age. Will be at its peak then similar to the 2011 Petaluma, another Clare Valley Riesling, I had recently.
