It’s been a long time since I had Chianti and this is hitting the spot. This is full, fruity, but elegantly balanced. Some strawberry and red cherry with rustic wood and earthy mellow tones; medium acidity and alcohol which intensifies the body of the wine. Very dry but with a savory finish. I could probably have this any day!

Meaty nose featuring cherry, cinnamon, gunpowder, clove, and oak. The palate offers more cherry with heavy spices notes of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, and oak. Medium tannin and high acid. A minor flaw is that is run slightly hot with medium plus to high alcohol.

Dramatically different from the 2017 Fontodi yesterday. Less aromatic, less bright, less cherry. This is thicker, smoother, earthier. More blackberry than red cherry. More woody. Tannins are very soft but very prominent in the flavor profile adding a bitterness.
