Inky in color with a red rim.

Nice nose of white flowers, blackberries, black currants, plums, bell pepper, cherries, licorice, oak, vanilla, vegetables, asparagus, spices, leather, smoke, barnyard, dust, earth, eucalyptus, black pepper and spices.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, cherries, plums, oak, earth, vanilla, licorice, cloves, leather, green pepper, chocolates, smoke, bitter herbs, peppercorn and Mediterranean spices.

Medium finish with firm, green tannins and black pepper.

This is a harsh Shiraz from Clare Valley in South Australia. Enjoyable with food, but not just by itself. It has nice complexity and balance.

Needs 90 minutes in a decanter to fully open up, but drinkable right out of the bottle.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

A legend from the Clare and very fetching in its new livery. Big & opulent but never losing its balance. One of the Barry boys best.

Warm spice and oak. Soft crumbly tannins, bright fresh fruit and a great complimenting acid. Very solid.

Reminiscing again. Hard to believe that this was once considered a special wine purchase. Not in my wheelhouse anymore.

Decent but light Shiraz. Jim Barry makes better ones (McRae wood comes to mind) but they are also pricier.
