1 person found it helpfulFeb 8th, 2016Tasted blind: Dried tobacco, dried cranberry, blackcherry, clove, leather, and tar This turns oxidative with a short glass decant (open in bottle for a few hours). Shows Madeira like charter, think burnt sugar and tar. Baking and anise spice notes on the palate. Medium minus tannin. Still very acidic. Carmel and cherry jubilee leas on a rich and reduced finish, with secondary vanilla and clove flavors hinting a at and oak presence. Blown away by the layers, depth and evolution here. Suspected older Rioja.

Mar 4th, 2021So far a bit meaty, bloody, with some black olive. Balanced out with some purple flower, wild black fruit, and herbs. Definitely packs a punch and still tastes like a youngster.

Aug 21st, 2016Great wine. Easy drinking, dry, spicy, well balanced but had expected more body, depth.

Aug 8th, 20152012 vintage. Jammier nose than the River Rock, little more funk. Bolder mouthfeel, more spice (black pepper) and dried fruit. Young now but would be more complex in another 4-7 years.
