K Vintners
The Beautiful Powerline Vineyard Syrah
The perfume on this is as light a Syrah as I’ve tasted. Excellently done.

Dec 29th, 2017Sheeeeeeet. Chaz was a bit heavy handed on this one. Of course, this is expected of him and not in a bad way. Boozy, voluptuous, and austere in its way. A bit unweildy with hedonistic raspberry, kirsch, wax lips and wild strawberry jam tones. Exactly what I want from K Vint expression. It's not classic, it's not by the books, but it's goddamned interesting. A valiant brandish of swagger.

1 person found it helpfulJan 7th, 2016Violets, charcoal, graphite, cracked black pepper. Wish it had a little more of a mid-palate and finish. Nice, but not really feelin' it, especially at the price point.

May 8th, 2017Don't miss this one...great Syrah from Charles Smith. Not many wines that score 90+ year after year. Wet earth, plum and hint of lime. Clean polished finish that gives way to savory herb and spice notes.

Aug 2nd, 2016Lush blackberry, incense, hint of bay leaf and fig with balanced acidity and alcohol. I’d dare say this is a Syrah with a light touch, that might be thought of by some as sounding negative about it, but it’s not. There’s finesse to this wine.

Apr 1st, 2018Moderate purple in color with aromas of blue and black fruit accompanied by charred meat, smoke, licorice, and a nice floral lift. On the palate, there is mixed berry fruit and a bit of black olive leading to a long, peppery finish. It’s medium to full bodied with fine grained tannins and 14.5% alcohol. Winemaker Charles Smith co-fermented a blend of 96% Tablas Creek clone Syrah and 4% Viognier sourced from River Rock vineyard with élevage in 30% new oak. Despite the Northern Rhône style blend, it’s very much a fruit forward, though nicely balanced, New World style wine. $50.
