Lamborn Family Vineyards
Proprietor Grown Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
Very surprising, but this is on the downswing. Lacking fruit, sweetness and texture. I’m gutted with this...

Jul 17th, 2020Big surprise for us. Had lots of this wine/vintage in the past, but this is on the decline, and past it’s prime. Herbs and medicinal notes on the nose and palate. Disappointing. Outlier?

Jan 5th, 2019For my 1K milestone, I selected one of our Napa faves...
My wife described the nose as “masculine,” and she’s spot on. Loads of cinnamon interplay with barrel toast and charcoal.
Palette is ethereal as the wine has shed its puppy fat. Now displays cloves, white pepper and ripe berries. Finishes with hints of caramel. This can be cellared for another 10 years, easily.
Daughter’s art in the background.

Raising a glass to @Ron R who sent me this amazing bottle of Lamborn. Nose is a wild combo of funk and spearmint. Dense, concentrated, and lush palate of big fruit, baking spices, vanilla, and mint. Plenty of tannin left. Huge wine showing half its age. Decadent to say the least. Thanks @Ron R this stuff is killer! 💣

Jun 16th, 2017Always love love Lamborn. Very youthful 10 year old Cab from a blockbuster vintage. Lovely bramble and briar fruits with great Howell mtn character

Nov 1st, 20152007 vintage poured on December 31, 2022. Dark in the glass, tannins have smoothed out and still strong raspberry and cherry on the palette. Paired with Beef Wellington and a green peppercorn sauce. Admittedly the sauce overpowered the wine.

Dec 31st, 2022Ten 10 years old. Decanted for two hours. Served in Riedel Cabernet glasses. Deep purple; tinted legs; a bouquet of leather, berries, and cedar. Moderate plus tannins.
Good mouth feel. Not as fruit forward ( at 10) as many Howell Mountain cabs. Warm alcohol on the palate. Dense blue berries, plum jam, walnut husk. Very satisfying.
