Another great Weekly Wine Committee in the books, this time hosted by Dan. Format stayed the same (1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds, 1 dessert wine) and everything is guessed blind.

As I mentioned previously, I guessed all 3 whites as chardonnays (and they were), but I didn't guess west coast here. More mineral driven than the first two, though it got better after some air time. White flowers, honey, stone fruit.

Minerality & acidity overwhelm this wine when it's first opened. A hour + decanting shows a much different wine. A little honeysuckle, fig, straw, melon ... a bit of oak. Wipes your palate clean with crisp acidity.

Well made and perfectly cellared sure paid off for this wine. Marcassin always delivers for me after a decade. Still beautifully colored, all pears and apples in the nose, totally integrated and perfect weight, all that and the acidity still holding up. Complex and rich without being heavy, really fantastic especially with our crab and butter lettuce salad. What a nice birthday present, thanks Artie!

2009 vintage. Clean, mineralesque, pineapple guava nose. Medium body. Spicy, zippy complementary oak frames some nearly perfect acidity. Fantastic and balanced.

2009. I'm ok with this. Rich. Bold. Full expression of the varietal plus treatment with plenty of french oak and malo. I want to see the development.
