Sipping Fine Wine

The Antinori family of Florence, one of the world's oldest and most distinguished wine producers, has lived in Tuscany since the 14th century. Blend of 80% Sangiovese, 13% Cab Sauv & 7% Cab Franc. Deep Ruby, aromas of black berry fruit aromas with herb and sweet spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry and cherry with cacao, vanilla and spice. Fine graceful tannins, long finish, well balanced, savory ending with juicy mineral tones. Very Nice!

As much as I avoid drinking super Tuscans I must say that this 2016 is a terrific wine. Precise, earthy, saline.

I think I preferred the 2015 but ever so slightly and as much as I struggle to believe glasses make a difference they poured the 2016 in a big cab glass and I think that distracted from the flavors that were evident in the tighter 2015 glass.

Nice but not quite at the true top level, especially given the price. Decanted 4 hours which is necessary at this point. Nice pairing with a big T-bone steak cooked in the Tuscan style. Could use more acid on the finish. Probably needs a few years to come together.

Bit young, could use more time in the bottle. More fruit forward than expected but nice round finish

My favorite vintage for this wine that is youthful showing mostly red fruit with a polished mouthfeel, savory spice, graphite, underbrush & tobacco notes.

Here’s the thing: this is good wine. It’s dense, chewy, and structured. There’s a nice balance of red and black fruit, graphite, cedar, mushroom, soil, and just a touch of Brett funk. It’s fairly tannic, so probably best with food, but can still be enjoyed on its own. I would never be mad if I was offered this. I was lucky to take home an open bottle from a job tonight, but I think the price tag on this is ridiculous.
