Deep Ruby with aromas of berry fruits, oak and spice. On the palate flavors of cherry, raspberry and plum with cacao, vanilla and spicy herb notes. Fine tannins, medium finish ending with juicy fruit, toasty oak and herb spice character. Nice, drinking well now!

Markham has a very solid history with Merlot and I usually love it. The ‘15 and ‘16 were great value. But I found this ‘17 to lack the old Markham soul despite its balance. Maybe I was erked by the label change.

2017. Aromas of leather and smoke. Ripe red fruit (maybe red raspberries) and oaky flavors. Moderate tannins and long finish.

Very thick legs. Vanilla, oak and plum on the nose. Long finish. High tannin. Leather on tongue. Enjoying with this year’s deer. Rate high for merlot but would only enjoy with red meat

Nose - strawberries, cherries. Really nice.
Medium bodied. Taste - cherries, a bit of smoke, somewhat tannic but not over the top.

Overall a really great Merlot for the price.

The formula changed, and it was not pleasant as it used to be. More acidic and tannic, and less fruit. Does not taste as Napa!
