Michael David Winery
6th Sense Lodi Syrah
Lodi, Central Valley, California, USA

Dark inky in color with a short purplish rim.
Very strong on the nose with blackberries, figs, raisins, alcohol, turpentine, cloves, cedar, ripen cherries, flowers, coffee, chocolates, vanilla extract, black pepper and spices.
Full bodied and bold with medium plus acidity and great legs.
Tart and dry on the palate with blackberries, blueberries, cherries, raisins, oak, vanilla, licorice, eucalyptus, leather, cloves, cedar, brandy, alcohol, spices and lots of peppercorn.
Long finish with soft tannins (almost none) and peppercorn.
I had this Syrah last year, and it was much different. This time it was very tired and unbalanced.
This 4 year old Syrah, is probably over the hill. Felt a lot of alcohol on the nose and palate.
I Had a glass at a restaurant, from a new bottle, but it probably was not kept well.
15% alcohol by volume.

May 6th, 2021Interesting Syrah with nose of pepper and jammy blackberries. Medium acid but plenty of residual sugars to balance it out. Easy drinking with plum and violet notes.

Aug 30th, 2019Really good and really complex. Maybe the best Syrah I’ve had

Mar 16th, 2019Is it just me or would this wine be better without all the acid in it? Prominent alcoholic notes right up front, but with some agitation, that improved. Fruity and spicy, decent tannin, but too acidic to enjoy alone. Maybe other reviewers are right, might be better after being left open a few days. Definitely needs heavy aeration.
Drank it with spicy Lindt dark chocolate by a fire on the deck.

The revolution will not be a televised, the revolution is here. This wine will make you want to take the El to gel with the real world. The GOAT of backpack rap, and a pretty good wine.

Dec 8th, 2017Plum and cherry with a hint of pepper. Evenly balanced with a nice long finish of spice, blackberry and ever so slight oak.
