Retromarcia Chianti Classico Sangiovese
Chianti Classico, Chianti, Tuscany, Italy
Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Nose of plums, cherries, licorice, oak, light vanilla, bitter vegetables, tobacco, peppercorn, espresso, dark chocolates, black pepper, earth, leaves and eaucaliptus.
Medium bodied with medium plus acidity and long legs.
Dry and tart on the palate with cherries, strawberries, cranberries, red currants, oak, smoke, vanilla, earth, forest floor, green vegetables, graphite black pepper and spices.
Medium finish with round tannins and spices.
This Chianti Classico is simple and unbalanced, but drinkable. A good food wine with a nice mouthfeel. Not my style, though.
Needs an hour to open up properly and show some tannins.
Made from organic grapes.
13.5% alcohol by volume.

Nice upfront fruit, but harsh tannins in the finish. Cherry nose. After breathing, it loses all flavors and nose, except for the harsh finish.

Not super complex but tasty! Bright red cherry fruit, clay, tiny bit of tobacco and noticeable tannins.
