1 person found it helpfulMay 6th, 2021A great wine from Chile, a blend of 92% Carmenere and 8% Petit Verdot, grapes from Colchagua. Deep Ruby with aromas ripe red and black fruits with floral, herb and minty notes. On the palate flavors of cherry and blackberry with notes of cacao and cinnamon spice with touches of black pepper. Long silky finish, fine tight tannins and ending with smoky oak notes. Very nice!

The Purple Angel lives up to expectations. A great blend of Carmenere and Petit Verdot which actually has a vibrant purple edge in the decanter. It is early days for this one but it can already be enjoyed with some decanting time but I think it is better than the 2016. Deep ruby and purple colour, the nose is a combination of Napa Cabernet and Australian Shiraz, rich, smokey, plenty of dark fruit and some nice burnt rubber and tar. On the palate there is blackcurrant, cherry, smoke and green and black pepper. This has a nice long finish and while it is definitely young, the tannins and acid are not overpowering. Definitely plenty of ageing potential and I think this will get better and better. Rating now is 9.2 but I’m sure it will end up at 9.5 in the future.

Jan 24th, 2021Terrible cropped photo from my blind flight. Who knew Carmenere could be expressed like this? Not me. Crisp red bell pepper pyrazines are hugely pronounced. Very ripe black fruit and a broad satisfying wash of the palate, despite what are still rough and tumble tannins.
