Clos Apalta

Valle de Apalta Red Blend 2021

Somm David T
9.3

I have tasted this producer infrequently, but what I have tasted from them have all been good to very good. This was an end of event taste. Palate was a bit fatigued at this point. Would have enjoyed tasting this with a fresher palate. 93+

Meatball was really good. Never had one that rode the top of fence of Italian & Mexican characteristics. Unique in that regard.

At Pebble Beach Food & Wine 2025.

The ticket to this event has a pretty big price tag. But when you consider what a Napa etc. tasting or two and lunch would cost you, you are pretty much there and there is so much more than that. It ends up having great value. It’s wine, spirits and food candy land.

Bicicleta Viognier

Fruity, tropical, smooth. Its not classified as sweet but almost feels such due to the fruitiness. Manages to have some body to it. Would gift well. — 3 months ago

Casa Lapostolle

Clos Apalta Limited Release Carménère Blend 2010

Boldly burst out of the glass with Sharp Ruby flavors. Blackberries, blueberries and raspberries with chocolate and a hint of leather. 15 years and just reaching out for life! Has many years left. — 15 days ago

Los Vascos Valle de Colchagua Cabernet Sauvignon 1697

1997(!) vintage. What a nice surprise. Still very much alive, a most pleasurable light Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon. I would have never expected the entry level of Los Vascos to age this well. Abv. 12,5%. — 3 months ago

Purple Angel Colchagua Valley Carménère Petit Verdot 2021

Inky dark color. Tomato leaf, coffee, and mint on the nose. More pyrazine notes on the palate along with cocoa, cranberry, leather, black pepper, molasses, raisins, coffee, tobacco, and dark cherry. High acid, high alcohol, medium plus tannins, medium plus body, and long finish. Despite all the tertiary notes, drinks vibrant and fresh. Drink now or hold. — 11 days ago

Montes Alpha M Santa Cruz Apalta Single Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2017

Must love roasted veggies. But this has shed some of its oak and youthful reduction. In a good spot with another 5-10 years of interest. — 5 months ago
