Passorosso Terre Siciliane Nerello Mascalese

Similar to the notes I posted 172 weeks ago - still the same earthy savoury cherry but now a bit more smelly cow yard. Dirt and dried plum. This winery we visited a few years ago and is on the favoured northern slopes of Mount Etna.

Really nice wild black cherry fruit with spice - probably opened this too early - big tannic grip

The nose was intense, spicy and wonderfully lifted with black cherry offset by rosy floral tones, mint, spiced orange, crushed stone and hints of black earth. On the palate, I found silky textures contrasted by a combination of tart cherry, cranberry and zesty acidity along with a spicy citrus spring to its step--the purity here incredible as well. It finished remarkably long with saturating tart cherry fruit, inner florals and hard candies. A hint of tannin lingered through the aftermath assuring that this is not only amazing tonight, but sure to get even better over time. I’m excited to watch it evolve throughout the evening.

Solid Nerello Mascalese. I keep hoping this will live up to the 97 pts. AG gave it. 3 more to go.

This has upside. Excellent material here. I will wait a few more years for everything to integrate.

Vi tancat que necessita ser decantat. Ample en boca i cos mig, un punt estringent però agradable. Regust mig.

Nez de fruit rouge d olive noire gourmand mais avec une fraîcheur
Bouche suave mais avec un événement acidité et une tonicité apportée par de beaux tanins👍👍

2014. So delicious! Great black cherry flavors, lighter body, long finish.
