An intoxicating nose - savoury earthy and mineral with spicy black fruits. The medium bodied palate shows black plums - flesh and skins, a note of liquorice finishing with fine gravelly tannins. Barb was convinced this was Australian when tasted blind. Similar notes 16 weeks later on 8th October 2022. Black fruits and liquorice. Classic northern Rhone descriptors of black pepper and hints of dried meat. A typical Crozes. Had my 2nd last bottle on 22nd February 2023. This had lost a lot of its early fruit and had an astringent note. I noticed on the back label it “Best enjoyed within 5 years “ which I hadn’t noticed before. Turns out that was good advice. Have my last bottle later in 2023. 86 points on latest showing.

Deep Ruby with developing aromas of black fruit, toasty smoky oak and cracked black pepper. On the palate this full body shows flavors of black cherry and blackberry with notes of dried fruits, cacao and meaty spice. Vivid acidity with pointed full tannins ending with fruit and toasty oak. Very Nice, set down for a few years.

About 30 minutes after opening, fruit flavors lost out to a more meat-like taste/aroma. Couldn’t catch the licorice others attributed to it. Full-body.

Very smooth, with dark fruit, smooth tannins, nice acidity, and some earthiness as well.
