This afternoon we had the 2011 Pio Cesare Barolo. The nose was tight at first opening but after decanting helped open it up. I started getting cherry, cassis, and licorice. On the palate there was nice notes of red cherry, raspberry, licorice, and hints of mint. This.was a.full bodied, medium + acidity and medium + gripping tannins.

Enjoyable now in a youthfull, firm way. Barbaresco's traditional feminity can be seen here when compared side by side to the firmer, more masculine Barolo. #piocesare

Delicious. Ash and leather. Chalk. Body in a light and prolonged, almost fabled fashion. Whatever that means. One of my favorite Barolos ever. I tasted tangerine too.
