Poderi Luigi Einaudi
Costa Grimaldi Barolo Nebbiolo
I have been off the Barolo/Barbaresco train for awhile but I can tell good juice when I taste it.

Einaudi estate was founded in 1897 by 23-year-old university professor Luigi Einaudi, who then went on to become the president of the first Italian Republic in 1948. Some of the region’s finest vineyard sites belong to Einaudi, and Barolo has two crus (Terlo and Cannubi). Terlo is part of the estate’s original property (marly-calcareous soil at 984 feet above sea level) and is used for the select, single-vineyard Barolo, called Costa Grimaldi.
The 2009 Barolo Costa Grimaldi is painted with broader brush strokes. It delivers immediate tones of black fruit, spice and nutmeg. Give it time in the glass and a background chorus of cola, tar, licorice and brimstone slowly increase in volume and tone. The mouthfeel is forceful, but finessed, with bright acidity and integrated tannins. Despite the warm vintage, the wine is beautifully crafted and will withstand the years. 2009 on 1.28.16 - had been open a day, so I would say "hold" or decant.
