Happy belated birthday wine to me.
Nose is all earth and truffles and cigar tobacco; wet forest leaf and barbecue sauce. Some cheese rind and dirty sock. Definitely past it’s aromatic peak, but at 37, who isn’t?
Palate is bright though with red acids and tastes young!
Better on day two... cheese is toned down and some fruit is peeking out.

A beautiful core of dark cherry fruit and red plum. Silky tannins with just a hint of balsamic. Elegant and still quite young to drink (relatively speaking)

Brought this to Spain from Italy yesterday. Still holding on, but fading. At peak likely 3-5 years ago, but still sound and mysteriously sneaky on finish.

Couldn’t take photo of actual bottle so used stock photo. 1984 Produttori off of this incredible wine list. Opened up beautifully. Rose, balsamic, nice acid, brilliant balance. Elegant. Surprise for vintage.
