Riserva Pora Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2017

Popped and poured; enjoyed over he course of a few of hours The 2017 Riserva “Pora” pours a deep garnet color with medium+ viscosity and no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of Bing cherry, rhubarb, dried orange peel, tomato leaf, espresso, some tar, a bit of leather and dried earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. Of all the vineyards that get selected for Produttori’s Riservas, Pora is the MGA for which I have the least experience. Lack of experience with Pora aside, this is empirically an attractive Barbaresco Riserva. Still early days. Drink now through 2042. Bottle No. 5118/13333. — 12 days ago

Riserva Montefico Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2011

See previous Delectable note from 78 weeks ago. This is the Montefico not the Ovello. Sour cherry and tarry aromas, also mint. Same descriptors on the palate with a balsamic note. This was my last bottle. I could not see the point of further cellaring time. — a month ago

@Pooneet K It was pretty good, although I probably preferred it a couple of years ago.

Giorgio Pelissero

Nubiola Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2019

Never had anything from Pelissero before but it was barbaresco from a year I like and under $200 on the wine list at Torrisi (which was fabulous). Wine itself disappointed a bit. Quite a bit darker fruited and in color than barbaresco I’m used to. Less acid too. Still nice and recognizable as the grape but left a bit to be desired. — 20 days ago

Riserva Rabaja' Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2020

A gem on the list here. Way too good for the stemless glasses. A bit closed still but the stuffing is there. — 12 days ago

Langhe Nebbiolo 2023

This is a nice little snack. The wine pours a very pale ruby color. Cherries and rose petals on the nose. Zippy flavors of sour cherries and tart raspberries. Medium tannins, and a fairly good exit. If I had to complain, I would say there's an unduly amount of alcohol burn that gets on top of the fruit. But it's really hitting the spot.
Still listening to Neil Young.

Pio Cesare

Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2020

Winery located in Alba, Piedmont region founded in 1881. Great Grandson, Pio Boffa, continues the tradition of innovative wine making. Ruby red color with red fruit aromas and herb floral scents. On the palate flavors of sour cherry, dried berries, cinnamon, licorice and tobacco notes. Soft tannins complement fruit to long finish ending with earthy mineral oak. Wonderful, Nebbiolo at its best! Starting to drink now! — 21 days ago

Riserva Asili Barbaresco Nebbiolo

Oct 2025: PnP, striking nose, still biting tannins, great palate, depth and strength. One of the best expressions of Nebbiolo in my recent years, completely obliterated Rabaya of the same year and maker tasted side by side. Awesome! — 9 years ago

Gaja

Barbaresco Nebbiolo

I had a bottle of this tonight at a restaurant in New York. It’s showed delicious notes of raspberries, violet, and some orange peel. It was a little bit open knit for such a young vintage, perhaps not as complex and structured as I would expect, which makes this a “drink now” proposition imo. — 8 days ago
