2005: To keep pace with the meal, we skipped decanting to get right at it. Very welcoming on the palate, with spicy balanced fruit and still vibrant tannins. Continued to develop in the glass, and show the depth and promise of a Riserva.

Licorice, tar, smoke, medium body. Not too young but still powerful. A modern day Marcello Mastroianni.

Leather, eucalyptus and cherry on the nose. Tart cherry and hints of spice try and break through the gripping tannins and acidity. Needs decanting for sure if you are going to drink now but so tight it needs another decade to soften up. 2005 vintage

Nice balance. Could stand a little more time in the bottle for my tastes but still a nice bottle of grapes.

Young Barbaresco...still very primary with a long life ahead of it. Tannin profile makes it approachable now, but will really shine with more time.
