Uvaggio Coste della Sesia Rosso Nebbiolo Blend
Maybe the forth or fifth time I’ve had the 2017 vintage and it’s been lovely each time. In the glass wine appears deep ruby with a nearly translucent core. Medium viscosity with slight staining of the tears. On the nose the wine is intense, redolent with dark cherry, Spanish paprika, red flowers, dried herbs and porchini. On the palate, the wine is dry, with almost chewy, sweet tannin (medium++). Acid is medium+. Confirm dark cherry fruit, bergamot, dusty earth and dried herbs. The finish is long, round and savory. Overall, a fresh and juicy example that stays true to its roots.

Another great Alto Piemonte producer that needs to be on your nebbiolo radar!
Drank over two days, this really got going on day two with the structure and typicity of Nebbiolo coming through. Day one it drank a little more primary, velvety fresh with rich red fruits, florals, and a softer feel to the texture - extremely enjoyable! Day 2 the structure of the tannin and acidity really came through, with the nose ratcheting things up with roses, currants, a touch of tar, spices and blood orange peel. Texturally it gained fortitude as well with everything perfectly integrated and in harmony.
Definitely getting more!
From the family at Isole e Olena in Castellare Chianti Classico in Tuscany - the family is of Piemonte in origin and this is the legacy of the family there in Coste della Sesia.

I'm usually a French drinker but going to an amazing Italian restaurant which is all about pasta and meats, we couldn't go past this amazing Uvaggio. Felt like I was having a pinot noir or Barrolo. Amazing drop and look forward to drinking more Italian reds like this.

Oct 25th, 2021A touch of wear after uncorking with a few days in the wine fridge. Typical #nebbiolo soft cherry, dried rose petal, leather bouquet. Sturdy acidity in the palate, nicely concentrated and thick but refined tannins on the finish. Lovely wine - not sure about the QPR from an NYC wine shop.
