Quilceda Creek
Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Mid Ruby/crimson with cherry red flashes. Aromas of menthol, dusty, antique shop, black currant. An absolutely stunning palate - silken - totally balanced and confident in its structure - an aristocrat , up there with the best First Growths. 97% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Merlot. 100% new French Oak which is now totally resolved. Quilceda Creek said at the time of release that the 2007 was probably the best to date. This was in the top handful of wines we have had this year and I can see why Robert Parker gave it 100 💯 points.

Oct 24th, 2021Very deep crimson in colour. Savoury aromatic black plum notes. Medium to full bodied with medium plus intensity. The feature of this wine is the supple silky palate. There are some oaky nuances but altogether well integrated. As I have said in previous notes regarding Quilceda Creek it does not have particularly Cabernet descriptors and to be honest not sure I would pick it as a Cabernet in a blind tasting , but, as always, it remains a wonderful red wine. Next one in 2 to 3 years.

If you thought Washington couldn't rival Napa Cabernet, you need to try this wine, Leonetti or any another fine producer of Washington Cabernet. Still needs another 5 years in bottle.
