Quilt Wines
Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Dark ruby in color with a purplish rim.
Napa nose of vanilla, licorice, cloves, earth, blueberries, blackberries, cherries, oak, pencil lead, vinegar, leather, dirt and black pepper.
Medium bodied with medium acidity and nice legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, bell pepper, oak, vanilla, licorice, green pepper, earth, spices, peppercorn, leather, smoke, chocolates, mocha and vegetables.
Long finish with soft tannins and black pepper.
This is a great Napa Cabernet from the house of the Wagner family (Caymus).
Well balanced, complex and interesting, but still young with too many vegetable notes for my taste. Great mouthfeel, and although high in alcohol, it is not noticeable. Will be better in a couple of years.
Good by itself or with food, like BBQ Meats, and needs 2 hours to open up properly.
15% alcohol by volume.

If you asked me in a blind tasting who the winemaker was, I could immediately call it a Wagner wine. I will say it is not my favorite wine done by Joey Wagner. I like his Torial Cab much better for $20 more. However, it is still an improvement on the style of Caymus, with some resemblance, and for half the price.
Sweet cherries, mocha, black pepper on the nose, and a jammy rich pallet of baked blackberries, dark chocolate, and vanilla - rich, and integrated tannins. It is a pop and pour wine, and I still think even at $40, slightly over priced..but it does say Wagner on the label. π
Thanks for the chance to taste it! @Kyle Groombridge, TWP

The new Napa Cabernet from the Wagners. This will have its fans. Blackberry jam, cocoa powder, licorice, bacon bits, molasses and plenty of Calvin Klein's Obsession for men. Was ready to go immediately, but I was surprised it didn't seem change at all over several hours. Pushes the envelop for sweetness, but I never found it to be cloying.
(Filing under Caymus until @delectablewine can add the Quilt Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley)

@Terri Walker Thank you Terri for sharing this bottle with me! Just what my day called for. Quick PNP, no recant & lots of Oak. Reminded me a little of a baby Caymus or Blue Eyed Boy?

Oct 29th, 2017Good Napa Cab but a bit overpriced in my view. A 100% Cabernet blend. This is a sister Wine to Freemark Abbey as far as taste profile . Some have said itβs Caymus lite and I can see that as well. Nice wine but better less expensive alternatives.
