On the nose, big, bright, jammy fruits of; blackberries, dark cherries, big blue fruit presence, poached plums and strawberries, soft & light baking spices with dark fresh florals. Nice ripe, round jammy fruits that mirror the nose. M tannins, nice spices, violets, dark florals, crushed dry rocks, understated baking spices, bramble & light herbaceous notes. The finish is fresh & ripe fruits, ligth earth and mouth dripping natural acidity. Nice Zin that is drinking well now. Vineyard planted 1921. Photos of another one of their vineyards and estate grounds. 15 months in barrel. 20% new oak. 80% 1-6 year old barrels.

2015. Big “port-like” dark fruits. Went great with a meaty spaghetti dinner on a seasonable first day of spring in the Alaskan interior! Corked up the remaining half a bottle and was worried it might get even more porty the next day, but it was exactly the opposite as it gained some balance and more complex finish. Rating slightly higher for second day.

Aged well and softer more rounded. Dark dried fruits and plum notes with subtle sweetness and light tannins

For an almost $40 bottle I was hoping for more wow but it was ok. Seemed a little more sweet or jammy than I’d prefer.

This needs to breathe...a lot. Probably didn’t need to open this quite yet but nevertheless I did. This zin is quite ripe and coats the tongue more than any other Ridge zin I have enjoyed. I’d wait for at least five years before opening another bottle. This wine needs bold, cold weather comfort food. Chile Colorado, Red beans and Rice, Frito Pie with lots of BBQ sauce, empanadas with a fair amount of spice. A unique wine that is probably more assertive than most in the Ridge lineup but well done.

Chocolate, spice, and prune. Disjointed. I don't doubt this will come together in 10 years. I'll lose my others in the back of the cellar.
