Casablanca Valley Pinot Noir
Sour cherries, lots of candy and some eucalypt notes. A bit exuberant, not Burgundy, but very pleasant and good value

Jun 2nd, 2019On the nose, ripe, elegant fruits; blackberries, dark cherries, black plum, cherries, strawberries on the wide palate and long set. Dark, rich moist soils, light vanilla, hints of black licorice and fresh dark florals and violets.
The body is medium full. Tannins are light round and velvety. The fruits are ruby, ripe and rich; blackberries, black cherries, blue fruit hues, strawberries & black raspberries. Light cinnamon & vanilla, dark rich moist earth with bright, fresh red flowers and violets. Acidity is well done and the long, ripe ruby finish is beautifully polished.
Photos of; the Estate vines as seen from their front building entrance, part of their barrel room, our tasting setting and Viña Veramonte and visitor center.

Nice but not quite where the '14 left off. To be revisited with some time under its belt. 8.9/9.0

Oct 12th, 2017I have opened the 2015 Ritual by Veramonte Pinot Noir from the extreme eastern end of Chile's Casablanca Valley. I have had the Ritual Pinot Noir 3 years ago. I can't believe it has been that long ago and everything I remember is as good today as it was then. Paul Hobbs of Paul Hobbs Winery is a consulting winemaker here and it shows.
On the nose is fruity aromas of cherry, strawberry, pomegranate, raspberry, cola, vanilla, rose petals, earthy soil and a funk component.
As I let the the wine roll over my palate the fruit again is prevalent with notes of sour cherry, strawberry, pomegranate, raspberry, clove, cola, vanilla and a mineral laden soil.
This is a medium bodied wine with medium + acidity and medium tannins that lead to a silky, velvety smooth finish. For the price this wine rivals any higher priced Pinot Noir. Have a great week and please take things easy and be safe. Nostrovia!🍷🍷🍷🍷

The nose shows some funk right away, and notes of coffee grounds and tea leaves surface soon after. The palate is a walk on the dark side - none of that pretty little raspberry stuff here. The black raspberry element is carried along by a wave of savory forest floor, going under for a bit but surfacing nicely on the finish. Although there is enough tannic grip for pairing with meat, it has the mouthfeel of a sipping wine. It’s full and wild and raw, but it knows its role and plays it well.

Feb 10th, 2016This has the garnet color and nose of an older Pinot that has developed...a beautiful earth, mushroom, real leather, all spice (or similar, and dried cherry fruit leather. The palate has tongue coating acidity and lush tannins. The dried cherry leather with maybe a hint of oak and vanilla come through and a touch of mushroom. Quite tasty over achiever.

Apr 22nd, 2020Amazing foxy nose with floral undertones. Usually a full bodied red drinker, but I loved this wine.

A beautiful Chilean Pinot Noir, fragrant, smooth, well balanced, great mouth feel with long legs. A perfect finish to a day of riding the dog sleds. Enjoyed at the Crazy Weed restaurant in Canmore Alberta thank you Shawn for your recommendation so long ago @Shawn Thompson . James Suckling rated this a 93 I’m not that high but still very good Cheers 🍷
