Robert Mondavi Winery
Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
I don't know about y'all but buying winery direct has a positive impact on everyday drinkers like these. It has a wonderful nose of dark fruit, oak and a bit of char. Full bodied.

3 people found it helpfulFeb 17th, 2015Classic Napa cab aromas, nice balance of ripe fruit and oak with good follow through, acidity and sweet tannins. The wine checks in at 14.5 ABV on the label, but drinks like it's at least 15 to 15.5 and is quite hot on the nose and palate.

On the palate it's medium-bodied, and well made with an appealing texture, dusty tannins, and good acidity with blackberrry, black currant, black cherry, and a hint of dark chocolate flavors. Lingering sweet finish. Blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, 4% Merlot, 1% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec. 14.5 alcohol. Retail - $28 Very good value!

Feb 8th, 2016The 2012 needs some time. Lots of acidity, but so delicious.

Jul 15th, 2015The '12 Mondavi Cab is colored dark and rich, and layered textures burst forth on the nose. Blackberry and cassis lead the way, with a beautiful savory note of black olive. The palate is tasty enough - a little thin for me - with the dark fruit making itself at home and leaving little purple footprints into the finish. Tannins are good, but not overly aggressive. The wine's aromas make a promise the flavors can't keep. It's not a great Cabernet, but at $20, I don't expect it to be. What it is, is a good $20 Cab.
