Bys I don't understand what wood you're noticing, i don't sense new wood at all! Superb complexity and exuberance in both nose and palate, $17 bottle? This can easily compete around $30. Great spiciness, robust black cherries, herbs and intense tuscan florality. Quite long in finish, with classy sinewy tannins. A slight note of chocolate on nose, but seems more from ripe merlot to me than excessive oak. Hides 15% very well, finishes vibrant and spicy. 45 merlot, 40 cab sauv 15 sangioveto. 2010 vintage.

Interesting mix of Cabernet and Sangiovese. Dark Chocolate Port, black licorice and a mix of herbs on the nose. Bright dark fruits and a velvety body. Smooth drinker for a red so young. It would be interesting to see how it evolves in a few years. It would pair well with a red meat pasta dish or a steak.

Entry level “Super Tuscan”. This blend of Cabernet , Merlot and Sangiovese is pleasant to drink with expected flavours of cherry, blackberry, some spice and a little chocolate. Good with pizza or simple pasta with meat sauce. Nice entry level wine but not a cellar keeper.

A little light for a Tuscan, solid blend though, berries and light oak

Found at Eataly in Chicago, had there with steak. Similar to a cab but more flavorful. Not too dry.
