2007 Orma Toscana from Tenuta Sette Ponti. Bordeaux blend from Tuscany. 40% Cab Franc 20% Cab Sauv 40% Merlot. The wine spent 12 months in French bariques and another 12 in the bottle. Dark berries, spice, with hints of Licorice and chocolate. Well integrated tannins and a nice full finish. Should drink well for another 4-5 years. #tuscanwine #italianredwine #supertuscan #maremma #orma #tenutasetteponti #bordeauxblend #2007tuscanvintage #goodredwine #nobleestates — 7 years ago
Scanzano is in Maremma in southernTuscany. Down here the local clone of Sangiovese is known as Morellino, the growing season is longer and hotter than Chianti. This allows the Morellino di Scansano to fully ripen with higher sugar levels. The wine has a dark colour in the glass, and is full bodied in the mouth. Expect blackberry, spice, a little tartness and firm tannins. Tannins are not too prominent so I would not expect this to mature much after 3-5 years. Drink up!

Dried sage, lemon verbena, sea brine aromatics. Savory, oily sour stone fruit heart, dusty dry as a bone and late stages tinged by lemon rind and white pepper. Lowish acid but high on vitality. #maremma bianco — 8 years ago
Really ripe and rich. Too much me thinks. The freshness and crisp texture that I love in the #sangiovese grape has been lost in a blend with #cabernet and #merlot Oh yeah and then there’s the price! Completely too expensive, average price is about 120€ in Europe with no VAT included. #biondisanti #toscano #tuscany #italy Castello di Montepo is a Tuscan wine estate in the Scansano district of #Maremma Toscana, founded in the 1990s by Jacopo Biondi Santi of the famous Montalcino family.
The winery is housed in the castle Montepo itself, a single fortress building set on a rocky outcrop
In contrast to the Biondi Santi Brunello di Montalcino estate, where large Slavonian oak casks are used for maturing wines, the wines here are aged in French oak barrels. — 4 years ago
Entry level “Super Tuscan”. This blend of Cabernet , Merlot and Sangiovese is pleasant to drink with expected flavours of cherry, blackberry, some spice and a little chocolate. Good with pizza or simple pasta with meat sauce. Nice entry level wine but not a cellar keeper.

Poggio al Tufo is a relatively new estate in the once swampy Maremma in coastal Tuscany. Tommasi, of Amarone fame planted vineyards here in 1997. The Alicante Bouschet grape is new to Tuscany, although getting more popular. This wine is a deep purple in the glass , delivering pepper, black fruits and smoke to the palate. Tannins are still a little harsh so this will benefit from another year or two in the bottle. Interesting wine from this interesting grape.

Solid. Tasted it versus-style side by side with other top sellers from #Bolgheri #tuscany #maremma and this was our favorite until Botrosecco — 3 years ago
