This wine pours a perfect ruby red. It has a nice nose. Flavors of cranberries, some dried fruit, a bit of oak and maybe cedar. The old world essence is slightly there. After it had been open for just a little while, maybe 20 minutes the tenants really broke out. Wonderfully. It was a tremendous value at Costco for only $10 a bottle. A definite re-buy. #toscana #tuscany #italianwines #costcowines — 2 years ago
I was impressed. It definitely shows warm climate #chardonnay characteristics like tangy tropical fruit and cantaloupe. #volcanic soils tend to warm up and stay warm. #italy #italianwines — 4 years ago
High acidity in the bouquet. Lemon, lime. The smell of roses burned.
I don’t usually enjoy Chianti, but I must admit I haven’t really give it a fair shot either. A few bad impressions have left me gravitating towards the northern Piedmont region.
The acidity and tartness work here. Listening to Cajun folk pop music, reading a book by candlelight, and staying in from the eminent winter storm outside, this wine promises to keep me warm, surprised, and as leafy jovial as a Spring day in Central Park.
This is a juicy treat of a wine — one that makes me astonished how the Earth can sprout something so jammy and full of life from its soil and soul.

Age has turned this 2010 magnum coffee-chocolate brick brown, but if memory serves this is an appassimento, Amarone-esque wine. It shows raisin and plum behind grill notes and black tobacco, fig and date. Tart dried cherry palate echoes tobacco, espresso and offers a cassis note. Earthy and bold. This wine exudes muscle, but does not lean on a Jammy-ness or blowsy-ness to deliver it. Really different, and singular.

Young and fresh from the glass with black cherry, cranberry, roses and poppy. Great vintage holding up phenomenally! Black and bing cherry palate with soft, textural black olive, bright raspberry, lingonberry and catalyst salinity. Juicy! Great acidity makes this seem so young in every way, the only hint is a slight fade to brick, but mostly unvarying rim to rim.

This wine pours a clear rust red. It has aromas of leather on the nose. It has flavors of dried fruit that are restrained a bit. Strong structured tannins were present which I think is a trade mark. We decanted the wine for about 90 minutes first. It went very well with the grass fed ribeyes and lobster we cooked for my son-in-law’s birthday. That said, I was expecting more. I really thought it would blow me away and it didn’t. It was good, just not great. I don’t think it was too expensive at Costco. Although I got it before I kept track of how much I paid for wines. #barolowine #nebbiolo #piedmontwines #italianwines #costcowines — a year ago
The wine delivers aromas of ripe red fruits like black cherry and raspberries. It has strong notes of vanilla, cinnamon, and other smoked aromas. In the palate you can feel the tart red fruit flavors mixed with vegetal notes of green pepper and other herbal flavors.
It is one of Central Italy's most tannic wines. A ver interesting and recommended bottle! 🍷
About the producer: "Azienda Agraria Scacciadiavoli is an estate in Umbria situated in the wine producing region of Montefalco. It has been owned by the Pambuffetti family since 1954.
The name "Scacciadiavoli" stems from the words "scacciare", meaning to banish, and "diavoli", the Italian word for devils. This unusual name can be traced back to an 18th century exorcism of a woman, whereby she was given red wines as a means of expelling the demon from her body."
Cheers to Italy! 🍷

Excellent - nice tannins and a good finish. Some earth and dried berries. It was the perfect accompaniment to Friendsgiving and the masterful sauce and meatballs made by the Noces. #barolo #italiandinner #italianwines — a month ago
