Last ‘12 in my cellar, aged very well. The estate of Sette Ponti lies in the heart of the Chianti zone, 15 miles northwest of the city of Arezzo, past the village of San Giustino Valdarno. Sangiovese/Merlot blend, aged in French Allier barriques, deep red with red fruit aromas and sweet spice. On the palate raspberry and sweet cherry flavors, tobacco, spice and soft tannins. Good balance, long finish ending with some earthy oak and mineral tones. Drink now.

Good little cousin of the Oreno. Tenuta Sette Ponti produces nice wines, but I don't think 2012 will show the best expression of the region. Maybe it just needs a bit of time on the shelf.
