The bouquet on this is outstanding. Blue/black fruits, a hint of smoked meat, lavender, mint and spice. Slight flick of heat. Black cherry, brine, licorice, cedar on the palate. Linear acidity and smooth tannin. Good finish too. F’n solid! Perfect for V-Day steaks.

2011 Vintage. 53% Syrah, 32% Mourvèdre, 15% Grenache. 15.1% alcohol. Another great 2011, skilled winemakers did best. “It’s been a crazy year,” said vintner Scott Hawley of Torrin, recounting an unusually cool year in Paso Robles and a late frost that hurt several vineyards.
