The 2021 Barbera d'Alba is an explosion of blue/purplish fruit, lavender, spice and mocha. A healthy dollop of whole clusters (30%) adds an element of savoriness that takes a little getting used to, as it is not often seen in Barbera. Meh… big fruit. Cran apple… maybe blueberry can’t nail it. No tannins. Kiss of oak. Closer to a Napa Cab than anything Italian.
Probably better than other 8.7’s I’ve scored, but marked down for disappointment factor…

Nice fresh fruit forward but it all hits in the finish behind the acidity, like a breeze.
