The 2021 Barbera d'Alba is an explosion of blue/purplish fruit, lavender, spice and mocha. A healthy dollop of whole clusters (30%) adds an element of savoriness that takes a little getting used to, as it is not often seen in Barbera. Dec 21st, 2022Meh… big fruit. Cran apple… maybe blueberry can’t nail it. No tannins. Kiss of oak. Closer to a Napa Cab than anything Italian.
Probably better than other 8.7’s I’ve scored, but marked down for disappointment factor…
