Trinchero Napa Valley
Mario's Estate Grown Cabernet Sauvignon
Really enjoyed this last night. Some herbal qualities but the balance with the fruit was there. Tannins were silky smooth. Drinking in a good place right now.

Dec 29th, 2019Had to double decant to remove the sediment. Beautiful oak and balance. Black currant, fruit heavy but not overpowering. Beautiful wine.

Beautiful oak and full flavor that hangs on the palate. An absolute enjoyment, but cannot wait to see what is hidden a few years down the road.

Jun 17th, 2017This is one of those wines that make you take a step back and try to see things through different eyes--or palates. People love these wines, and I want to understand why. I would say it is not our style, but that is not to imply we tread a worn path, sticking to things we know and like, when in fact we drink widely and variously. It's more a philosophy of wine. This Trinchero is indeed well-made. Oak and blackberry notes dominate, along with a welcome bitter note that counters the sweetness. Everything is clicking and whirring, and nothing seems out of place, yet there is a distinct lack of mystery. The wine is rather hot, but the alcohol is well-hidden, and even sneaks up on you. Therein lies the problem with these wines--it almost makes more sense to think of them as liqueurs. They are best tasted after dinner or in a lineup. Left unrated out of fairness.
