Bought this over the holidays to confuse family members who often drink Cali Cabernet. It did the job: there were ZERO guesses of Cabernet Sauvignon, which is precisely why I like this Margaret River expression. Yes, it's definitely oaked, but the higher acidity and brighter fruit notes make this a winner that's easy to drink. Added plus: very little in the Juniper + bell pepper department.

In general, I’ve always felt while the Aussie cabs are good, they don’t truly represent the varietal that I love. This is no exception. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good, with very interesting notes of lavender, violets and red cherries, which transition to the palate. Just that it’s not typical, and I regret, but in some things, I loathe change. It has a delicate weight, but lacks that fleshy mouthfeel I have come to expect. The wood treatment also imparts a new angle as it tastes like cedar - not bad, just unfamiliar. After mildly spitting my pacifier out, it’s now firmly back in place, since I paid $25 per. It’s an interesting departure, but maybe not for “true” cab lovers.

Great budget Aussie can! Very mellow, not super oaky, a bit of white pepper on the nose and stewed fruit.

Distinctive entry level Cabernet from Vasse Felix. Juicy core of black raspberry, black plum and cassis framed by leafy herbal notes, black pepper, turned soil and wood spice. Killer bargain for $15.99. Drinks well above its price. Delicious.

This is a top wine from the professional press and I was delighted with the wines balance and the cedar notes that were on the bouquet and present on the palette too. Good to drink immediately!!

Super bell pepper strong flavor. Pretty good, overall, but a bit flat.

Upon immediate pour: citrus.
Leathery, lavender, citrusy after 15 mins.
Ripe currant and tobbaco after 15mins ++

Note: decant for 15 mins and dont rush

Have to decant for 30mins to express itself.

I didn’t take notes but I was not impressed with this. Was very underwhelming for a WS Top 100. Thought it was overrated.

Final wine club before the birth of Baby V 😎

This was brought by my buddy’s wife because she wanted something that was totally foreign to her; something that would throw a kink in our usual tasting habits. Loads of eucalyptus/menthol and leather. This was a fun wine to try.
