Easily the most monumental Pinot I've had from California. Made by Brad Webb at Hanzell and bottled by Joe Heitz (note the 'perfected by' on the label) this wine was still insanely fresh and dense and barely bricking around the rim. This was almost the wotn on a night that included 1928 pommard epenots and 59 roumier bonnes mares. — 9 years ago
From half bottle, 46 years from vintage, this wine is remarkably fresh, a total delight. — 9 years ago

Very pretty, really nicely made wine. — 9 years ago
Murky and crackling with activity. Earthy with horse table funk. Trace of Brett plus weedy Pinot character are not my bag. — 9 years ago
Lovely, funky aromatics of ripe strawberry and Garrigue. A mouthful of Grenache fruit but finishes 'en fuego,' like the last 5% of the wine is actually vodka. — 9 years ago

Unbelievably fresh, still completely sings where it comes from. Sulfur and good cellaring is a potent combination. — 9 years ago
Well this is just lovely. Precise but with plenty of weight, aromatics scream Avize. The 2008's are really something. — 9 years ago
Goddamit. The response to the question 'why do you like Syrah so much?'. It pains my blue collar soul to admit the aristocratic beauty of this wine. — 9 years ago

One of the best young wines from Carlisle I’ve had. Weighty but elegant fruit with classic montafi mint. Beautifully made wine. — 8 years ago
