De eerste echte jaargang van de Zwitser Emil Strickler in Borba. Nog gemaakt voordat het huis echt beroemd werd. Blend van toen: voornamelijk Aragonez, Alicante Bouschet, Touriga Nacional, Cabernet Sauvignon en Petit Verdot. 15% alc, 18 maanden nieuwe Franse barrique.

Nu 2e fles uit originele kist,25 jaar oud en precies op top, kurk is perfect alsof hij gisteren gebotteld is.

Diepgrabaat met baksteenrand
Zwarte olijf, laurier, garrigue, gerookt vlees en grafiet. Dan komt het fruit terug - confiture van zwarte pruim, vijgenbrood, zwarte kers. Daaronder die Zambujeiro signature van eucalyptus / menthol en pure chocolade, vanille en ceder van de barrique die nu volledig is opgenomen. Geen overrijpheid
Wat meteen opvalt: nog steeds enorm veel structuur. De Alicante Bouschet geeft nog steeds grip. Vol, zijdezacht geworden, maar geen moes. Zuur is laag zoals 2000 betaamt, maar er zit nog frisheid door de menthol-toets. Smaak van zwarte olijven tapenade, gedroogde pruim, tabak, espresso, laurier. Tannines zijn rond, krijtig. Afdronk is eindeloos - 20+ seconden - met drop, peper en die typische ziltige Alentejo — 11 hours ago
