Last bottle. New year’s eve spash. Almost Madeira like. — 4 years ago
Strong and bold. Great wine with food. Thanks, Delectable for turning me on to it! — 9 years ago
Querciabella, in Italian, means “beautiful oak” and surrounds their vineyards. Founded in 1974 by Giuseppe Castiglioni, now managed and owned by Sebastiano Cossia Castiglionii. Sangiovese from biodynamically grown grapes, Ruby, lovely nose of fruit, floral and spice. On the palate cherry and blackberry flavors with earthy herb notes and spicy cacao. Fine tannins, good balance, medium+ finish ending with earthy character. Nice value, consistent. — 6 months ago

Now this felt like a typical 03’. Ripe and plush, I thought it was a 07’ left bank Bordeaux. Close enough? Haha. Dusty, leathery, and still-oaky nose, with a blackberry jam-like character which treads on drying out. Also notes of coffee and some herbs. It does feel quite Cabernet-dominant on the nose although it’s not. On the palate, it was very rich and even fat at times. The tannins were mouth-filling and sticky which stumped me a little (felt a little Merlot-like, yet not), but made sense upon reveal. Can’t say I enjoyed this much, but it’s definitely got complexity and substance. I’d need the right food pairing to enjoy this. — 10 months ago
Actually, is 100% Merlot and is fabulous. One of best I've had and would not have readily thought it would be from Tuscany for this varietal. (2,000 bottles made) — 9 years ago

I really like it, and the blend adds some interesting undertones. I love most of what I have tasted from Querciabella. But it just doesn’t reach the heights of a proper Burgundy Chardonnay, so at this price point I’ll stay with French. — 21 days ago
