Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Free orchid samples for my stores, Heitz not free.
But so worth it. These need 15-20 years to live up to the name.

I’ve had friends put them in there for the steam from a shower and it worked out.
I prefer indirect lighting like a patio room. Typically they would last 5-6 months before they bloomed out.
Just don’t buy one thats fully bloomed, sometimes they are in a store for a couple months. A fresh one would typically have 4-6 buds that haven’t opened.

And the Heitz was great but from 2 days ago, Delectable takes a couple days now to show the wine you post.

Oh if it’s a garden like this you can use ice cubes placed on top of the roots then drain the ceramic after they melt.

Domaine Armand Rousseau

Clos St. Jacques Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Pinot Noir 1999

A fantastically complex and profound nose. Dark gnarly fruit, some black cherry and complex herbal notes. Lovely fruit and getting better by the minute in the glass. Glorious as always. — a month ago

Heitz Cellar

Lot C-91 Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Truncated cookout notes. Damn this is spectacular. The flavor density and balance is so old school. The nose is ethereal. None of that 15% alc. chocolately bullshit that now seems to permeate Napa Cab orthodoxy.

UPDATE: Next morning, the wine long gone, I’m sitting here watching college football highlights from yesterday still thinking about how much I liked this. There’s usually only one wine per year that has that effect on me.

Back in the day I had a couple of their wines. Excellent. Way out of my price range now. Glad you enjoyed it. ( without me, but I’m not upset…)

Comte Armand

Clos des Epeneaux Monopole Pommard 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2013

Tasted blind. Medium light garnet , showing more age than wine 1 , quite wide garnet terracotta rim . More spice , with a sweet tobacco , dried raspberry , some cherry and earthy herbal , black tea notes . This is more tertiary than 1 wine . On the palate this also has quite high acidity, lightly gritty tannin with dried cherry , herbal hints . Quite fresh herbal tinged finish . Ok length . This improved quite a bit with air , showing more fruit and floral character after a while . This is probably close to peak drinking now but no rush should continue to show well over the next 5-10 years or so — 25 days ago

Ace of Spades Brut Rosé Champagne Blend

Because it’s Sunday….and celebrating the new baby girl. Mom deserved something good. This fit the bill. More serious champagne than just popping bottles in da club. Strawberry preserves over little mini biscuits. Roses on the nose, fresh strawberries and cream with angel food cake. Bright red hue. — a month ago
