Nice bottle/label. Classy screw top. And a label that looks like an old book. Deep dark color. Smells nice. Fruits, mint, licorice, wet earth, and forests. Flavors are good too. Dry. And not fruit bombed. It’s got character. Herbal side is nice. Licorice/anise, but also a sage and artemisia side too. This is excellent stuff. Interesting and gratifying. — 5 years ago
Cool label. Nice white color. Shimmery. Aroma is lovely with a citrus peel and flower nose. Hint of herbs too. Flavors are excellent. Fresh fennel and a hint of smoke. Linden tea? Body is good too, mouth-filling with lots of acid bite. Hints of artemisia too. This is a very nice white. Strange, interesting and vibrant. — 9 months ago
Marsanne white. Moon Mountain Dist. What a nice painting on the label. Poster art vibes. Lovely pale, golden color. Smells like fresh paint, flowers and lighter colored apples. Gala or Jonagold. Flavors are complex and crunchy. Lots of anise, bit of artemisia. Has hints of honey and stone-fruits. The body and bite are tremendous. ‘Big’ white wine. The balancing bitter streak is nice. This is a unique CA wine with some distinct old world style. — 4 years ago
Notes of anis and spearmint most strongly, with more subtle citrus. Sweet even without sugar. Light and delicate but with a creamy mouthfeel. — 6 years ago
Incredible, frizzante, crisp, Meyer lemon, minerality — 3 years ago
Dark as boar’s blood. Smells, dense, ripe and strange. Inky perhaps. Flavors are balanced, juicy, and dry. Lots of licorice, berry and some brandy, bourbon tones. Plenty of cigar and hot road tar in a rainstorm on the backside. Hints of mugwort and artemisia perhaps too. This is a clean and rich Napa style wine with complexity. Could age for a while with the tannins. Not fully funky, but interesting. — 4 years ago
Light alcohol at 12%. More opaque than the big Syrah. Pretty though. Purple edge is striking. Smells strange. Slate, berries and some herbal anise, artemisia and rose petals. Flavors are pure French Syrah. Tart red-black berries and rocks. The acids are high. But the licorice and chocolate with black pepper and black cherry liqueur makes this baby sing. This is the kinda Syrah I love to discover. Strange, rustic, complex, and full of flavor. — 5 years ago
Tree Kilpatrick
Classy and simple label. Still a pretty perfect golden hue even four years in. Smells funky. Herbs like artemisia and sage with maybe a hint of lemons. Flavors are dry, tart and complex. Gravel or river rocks meets sambuca and orchard grass. Like when you pluck a fresh sprig of grass and chew on the green stem. This is a stunner of a Sauv Blanc. Clean and clear with lots of gratifying strangeness. — 2 months ago
