Wow this is too young! Opened it, had a glass, then left it on counter for 24 hours. Better, but still needs more air. Cassis, dried meats, cherry, herbs, a bit of wood, more red fruits. It’s all there just need to open it in a decade. — 20 days ago
Great with my Bolognese! — 13 days ago
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two hours. The 2003 “Villero” pours a deep garnet color with a transparent core, moving towards a slightly orange/watery rim. Medium+ viscosity and no staining of the tears with significant signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing with powerful notes of black and red fruit: black plum, Morello cherry, red roses, green herbs, leather, old wood and dried gravelly earth. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose, however there seems to be more dried herbs on the palate, including a fresh mint. The finish is long, lasting for minutes. A beautiful expression from a very solar vintage. Drink now and through 2040. — a month ago
Wine prices in Tokyo tend to be expensive but this was about $200 AUD. Probably sounds dear but when you’re here that’s not too bad. Medium crimson in colour. Just medium bodied - red fruited with cherry, strawberry and earthy silty notes. On the palate went well with a Grade 4 Waygu steak which was very expensive but it was a good match. All very satisfying. From a good vintage in Piedmont. The photo is from the Delectable library but the vintage we had was 2016. — 13 hours ago
Fabulous bouquet, earthy, tar, leather, plums, cherries, mushrooms, satisfying finish - everything you would expect from a fine Barolo. — 15 days ago
Such a great Brunello producer. Every wine in the line up is excellent. Even the entry level Troncone, which is one of the great steals in Brunello. This bottle is in its prime. Smooth, complex, red fruit, black fruit, med tannins, long finish. So good! — 21 days ago
Stellar Barolo. Definitely of the new school, lighter color, lightly structured, but radiant fruit in a refined style. Decanted 2hrs. Perfect pairing for veal/osso buco, maybe less so for a roast. Some debate whether more age would refine the fruit further or cause it to dissipate. No idea but have two more so can experiment! Made me want to get on an overnight to Piedmont tonight. — a month ago

Slightly cloudy copper colour . Quite toasty coffee notes at the beginning . Slightly dried fruits, orange rind . On the palate quite round and generous , dried fruits , high acidity and extract , orange rind . Quite long and herbal , with some dried red fruits , roast almonds . This is intense and very interesting , will still age pretty well . Drink now and over the next 5 years. — 9 days ago
