Great Pinot... comparable to Meiomi. Will get again. — 4 years ago
The 2019 Treinspoor, 80% whole-cluster Tinta Barocca matured in old foudre, presents a crisp, well-defined bouquet of blackberry, briar and wild fennel scents, gaining intensity all the time in the glass. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. Taut and crisp, almost pixelated in style, leading to a sensual, mulberry-tinged finish. Very elegant and refined. Good. Wants some air. Not as much concentration as I’ve been used to for a Beauj of this price point from Morgon, but the other thevenet wine we had was from morgon and was a lot lighter than anticipated so maybe it’s a winemaker style? Lots of raspberries and this interesting briar note on the end, the back end doesn’t have as much going on but… I did have the majority of the bottle without letting it air out a bit. Wife wants to do a side by side with their morgon to compare the stemmyness. Worth a check definitely, makes me want to try more regnie but also solidified my adoration for morgon. But the more this airs the better it gets. Will have to revisit. — a year ago
