Langhe Nebbiolo 2019

I just loved this. Vibrant and alive on the tongue, but dark, earthy, savory layers of Nebbiolo fruit. What a stellar wine, especially for one so young. Wish I had more to put away. — 3 years ago

Grinzane Cavour Barolo Nebbiolo 2015

A warm-year wine, rich but red-fruited - it also does take a minute to come together and integrate the alcohol. It’ll be very interesting to see how this develops. — 5 years ago

Tastes good. Ethereal Sangiovese aroma, it settles down into a composed, harmonious and refined Chianti. It has no artificial superficiality that plagues most wines these days and offers the very essence of what good wine is about. — 6 years ago

Cerreto Barbera d'Alba 2012

Lovely. Boysenberry, mulberry, violets. Big, boozy too as a lot of barberas are, but balanced. Very nice — 3 years ago

Padronale Rosso di Toscana Sangiovese Blend 2010

This was a random bottle from the cellar on normal a Thursday night paired with a simple bowl of Mezzi Rigatoni and Marinara. I know very little about this Biodynamic estate but with Dressner as the importer, it has my attention. It appears to be declassified Chianti Rufina.

Popped and poured; consumed over several hours. In the glass, deep ruby with a translucent core and slightly browning edges, possibly indicating its near 11 years of age. Medium viscosity. On the nose, stewed black berries and black cherries, some VA, old leather bound books and dusty earth with medium+ intensity. On the palate, a rather powerful cherry red rope licorice character dominates accompanied by mushrooms, dried herbs and a bitterness that reminded me of walnuts. Medium tannins which seem completely integrated at this point. The acid seems to be on the higher end of the scale yet, the wine remains fairly balanced since it’s so well endowed with fruit. Medium+ finish.

I gotta say, I’m really digging this wine. It was fun on its own and worked really well with food. If this bottle is an indicator of the estate’s style and quality then I am definitely looking forward to experiencing more. Drinking very well now so no need to hold longer. Bottle number 0365/1350 😳

Vigneti Cerreto Barbera d'Alba 2015

What a rich, powerful Barbera. 2015 is fruity, but the underlying elegance places it in a higher category this grape. Delightful with a rustic rabbit dish. — 5 years ago

Riserva Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend

This Chianti includes just a touch (5% each) of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Dusty earth, purple flowers and dark cherry aromas fill the nose. Lighter cherry, cigar tobacco, dark chocolate and tar on the pallet. Hint of baking spices on the finish. Incredibly smooth texture. Solid acidity. Full bodied. Totally rustic in style. All about the Tertiary aromas and flavors with this wine. Settling in with age. — 3 years ago

Sandiavolo Toscana Red Blend 2013

Color of shades of purple, mixed with ruby and brown tone, a bit cloudy. Nose is nice with concentrated dried strawberries, black cherry, leather, dark fruits, and ice wine like honey fragrance. Taste is also nice with refined tannins, subtle acidity, zest, vanilla, oak, dark fruits, and dressed with some more dark fruits. Aftertaste is savory with refined sweet and zesty note, and some more tannins. Peaking now. Enjoy now. — 5 years ago
