Excellent second label Bordeaux from a very underrated St. Julien Chateau. Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (50%), Merlot (35%) and Cabernet Franc (15%). I have to believe (based on the color) that a bit of Petite Verdot ended up in the blend. Dark ruby/purple/black color. Aromas of ripe black fruit, cedar wood, violet, leather and sweet baking spices. Flavors of ripe black berry/currant/plum fruit, nutmeg, cloves, earth and tobacco. Medium-plus length and beautiful balance and structure. Medium tannins that soften with aeration. Fantastic quality for the price. Pop and pour a bottle or age it for another 5 to 7 years. — 10 days ago

2016 vintage. You can't go wrong with the Domaines Martin wines these days, and they have made some of their best wines in this excellent vintage ( Gloria 2016 might well be the best ever!). This Cabernet Sauvignon dominated Haut-Médoc features a deep dark red colour, and a nose with cassis, cedar and dark chocolate. In the mouth it shows impeccable balance with the juicy black fruit balanced by fresh acidity and well-tamed tannin. Terrific value too. — 4 years ago
