2018 vintage. Second wine of Cru Classé Malescot Saint-Exupéry. Charming nose with ripe black cherries, raspberry jam and some floral hints. This medium-bodied, fruit-driven Margaux is drinking well already with silky tannin and good length. Not very complex, but a very charming wine indeed. Abv. 14%. Good value at less than half the price of the Grand Vin, even if I would rate the less expensive La Tour de Bessan (tasted alongside) higher. — 2 years ago
Barnyard funk to open, which softens with breathing. Black raspberry and boisenberry fruit. Vanilla and tobacco in the background. On the palate, there is a firm tannin backbone with raspberry and blackberry fruit carrying forward. Finishes well. Solid wine, better with 30+ minutes of breathing. — 7 years ago

To fully understand the Lurton family one needs to be a professional genealogist, but if you meet a Lurton in Bordeaux it would be safe to bet she/he is involved in wine business. Marie-Laure is one of the 10 children of Lucien Lurton, and she owns Chateau de Villegeorge in Haut-Médoc and Tour de Bessan in Margaux. Villegeorge 2010 is blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (79%) and Merlot (21%). Attractive nose of cassis, cedar wood and violets. Still plenty of very ripe fruit at 10 years old, good concentration and length. Fine value today at 28 euro. — 4 years ago
Very light for a Bordeaux even with age. Paired nicely with a smoked Turkey for Thanksgiving. — 7 years ago

2022 vintage. Dark red, much deeper colour than usual for this estate. Marie-Laure Lurton seems to have gone for a bit more extraction in this exceptional vintage. More powerful than usual, with a fresh black fruit personality, embedded in a tight, ripe tannic structure. Serious length too. Decanting recommended,as it showed better the next day. Ab. 14%. — 3 months ago
