Great got the price! — 10 months ago
The 2014 Trotanoy has a more complex bouquet than the 2014 Gazin, with more Pomerol DNA in the mix, iron-tinged red berry fruit, black truffle and cedar. Fine delineation and quintessentially Pomerol. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins and harmonious, soy-tinged black fruit with white pepper sprinkled over the finish. This has personality and class but needs time (comme d'habitude). One of the standouts in what is an inconsistent Pomerol vintage. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting. Don’t think this is the right wine as the wine I tried was 100% Merlot. Immediately hit with a strong scent of black currant before my nose got close to the glass. Taste of dark cherries followed by blackberries followed by soft tannins. Leaves a bit of a bitter aftertaste in n the mouth after a few minutes. A very nice wine for the price.

Merlot dominated Bordeaux blend. Smooth drinker. This winery is located 300m from château Petrus and direct neighbors of château Gazin and Château Evangile. At 20 euro's a bottle excellent qpr. — 7 years ago

Compared with Gazin. Quite gentle. Less earthy. Fruity. But robust is same. Good balanced to the last vintage tasted before. Ok to drink. Château Beychevelle 21 @, , 250716 — a year ago

Paired with '93 Ch. Gazin over prime rib Christmas dinner (Both vintages from kid's birthyears). Both showed well (kids and the wines). Soft and supple with nice ripe cherry fruit. Elegant, balanced, with perfect texture. Drink now over next 10 years. — 9 years ago
Liquorice, shoe polish, black cherry, ripe, dark fruit, tannins are fresh with citrus acid and bitters, clean and in the prime of its life. Rich, wide, balanced and deliciously a point. — 7 months ago
rich and complex , tobacco and berries great with cheese and great with beans and greens. — 9 months ago
This wine is drinking perfectly right now. Had it side by side with a 2005 Gazin and the Lichine was much better. — 6 years ago

Aromas of plum and tobacco from this predominantly Merlot Wine with a small percentage of Cabernet Franc. Chocolatey flavours accompany the plum on the palate. This Wine is a rarity and was”discovered by Andrew Caillard MW from Australia’s leading auction house, Langtons. The grapes come from a tiny 0.4 Hectare Block along the boundary of St Emillion and Pomerol. The vineyard is surrounded by some of the biggest names of the right bank and is crammed between vines belonging to Ch L’Evangile and Ch La Dominique. Over the narrow gravel road is Chateau Petrus and Chateau Gazin. Across the D244 just a few metres away are vines belonging to Ch Cheval Blanc. It has largely existed unnoticed by the worlds Wine critics and survives in its current form because of it’s tiny size, local politics and dogged family hope” to paraphrase Caillard. Caillard goes on “Curiously the Chantecaille Vineyard has no Grand Cru classification because no Cellars have been built on the property. The Vineyard is so small (only 0.4 hectare) that any building would require the destruction of the Vineyard; a pointless exercise. As a consequence the crop is tractored to Chateau Guillot Clauzel in the commune of Pomerol, just a few kilometres away where it is vinified and then matured in barrel; all 5 or 6 of them! If “Chantecaille” was purchased by one of its more illustrious neighbours, the fruit could be incorporated in a more prized and expensive label!” The Wine itself was no Petrus but was medium bodied with M- intensity and light tannins Fermented in stainless steel and aged in used oak barrels it has little oak influence. All in all a curio. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for this little Vineyard. Postscript:
My longest ever Delectable Note but I thought it was an interesting story. 🍷 — 8 years ago

2015. Not sure if wines are still produced under this label, as Gazin Rocquencourt has been integrated into Malartic Lagravière. In any case this 2015 red Pessac-Léognan is a sleeper of the excellent vintage that offers amazing value for money! Highly recommended. — 2 months ago
